Things Are Going So Well That We'll All Be Rich

Michael Barone on his party's future:
But my examination of the exit poll results and county-by-county election returns has led me to conclude tentatively that [Republicans] going upscale is the right move. As David Frum has pointed out, we're going to have more well-educated and millennial-generation voters in the future and fewer less-educated and Baby Boomers (among whom McCain ran even).
So, Republicans are banking on the fact that education works, therefore they should aim at the elite instead of yokels?

How will this sit with Steele as RNC preznit. Many of the republicans will notice that he is an African-American and will find that this hurts their little heads as he can't be upscale.

They are, at the moment, Obama Republicans...

Calling this "wishful thinking" doesn't hit the mark: it undershoots "wishful" but overshoots "thinking" by a country mile.

hopeful that Obama can forge the bipartisan coalitions he has promised and eager for the change they think he represents....
There's a tension here, which Republicans can exploit blah blah blah

Republicans spinning partisan rhetoric to score political points is just what those bipartisan coalition-desiring smart folks want to see! This plan is guaranteed WIN-WIN!

And that means Obama's Republican, so working with Congressional Democrats means he's already delivering the bipartisan goods. Back to the fault mines, wingnuts!
